Is your daughter, nephew or student the next Scott Jones?
Inspire a budding entrepreneur....
It starts with a lemonade stand.
What is Lemonade Day?
Lemonade Day is a free, city-wide initiative designed to teach kids how to start, own and operate their own business – a lemonade stand.
We launched Lemonade Day in Indianapolis in 2010 and over 7,400 kids signed up! We had over 50 sponsors and community partners involved and Governor Daniels and Mayor Ballard were big supporters. It was a HUGE success!
In the coming weeks, you'll be able to sign up for Lemonade Day 2011. Here's how it works:
1. Pair Up: Youth participating in Lemonade Day must work with a "caring adult" - could be a parent, grandparent, older sibling or other responsible adult.
2. Register: In the next few weeks, you'll be able to sign up via our web site, our school/non-profit partners or at one of our sign up events at places like the Children's Museum or Zoo.
3. Pick Up Your Backpack: After you've signed up, you'll get an email from us letting you know where to get your backpack, containing everything you need to get started. Backpacks will be ready for pick-up in February 2011. However, we encourage you to sign-up early, which will help us determine how many backpacks to print.
4. Prepare for Lemonade Day: When you get your backpack, you'll find two workbooks inside: one for the youth and one for the caring adult. Spend a few weeks or a month or two (it's up to you, it's your business) working at your own pace through these lessons around starting, owning and operating a business. ****Be sure to check your email, as we'll be sending you "tips & hints" to help you get ready for Lemonade Day. We'll also let you know about fun, free, events you can attend to help you prepare!
5. Set Up Your Stand on May 1st, Lemonade Day: Leading up to Lemonade Day, we'll post information on our web site about other places (in addition to your neighborhood) where you can set up your stand, so be sure to re-visit our web site.....On May 1st, you'll be one of thousands of kids across the Greater Indianapolis Area selling lemonade - think about how to stand out from your "competitors" and have a blast!
