What is Lemonade Day?
Lemonade Day is a nation-wide event that teaches kids the skills they will need to be successful in business and in life! With our user-friendly materials, kids learn to set goals, develop a business plan, establish a budget, seek investors, provide customer service, and give back to the community.
Lemonade day is the perfect opportunity for a community to show kids they care and train the next generation of entrepreneurs through a fun, engaging, experiential activity!
When is it?
Lemonade Day is the first Sunday in May -- May 2nd, 2010. So, kids participating across the country, including in Indianapolis, will be setting up stands on the same day! Many kids set up their stands in the morning and sell lemonade until sundown.
Who can participate?
Youth of all ages can participate (with adult supervision!). The great thing about Lemonade Day is that the entire community can get involved, from the kids selling lemonade to the adults helping them to the customers buying and drinking the lemonade!
How do I register?
To register for an official Lemonade Day stand and to participate in the event, a parent or guardian must sign a consent form agreeing that a responsible

Schools and/or teachers can "take this on" or simply share information with the parents of their students. Ask a representative of your child's school to contact jami@lemonadeday.org or call 317-575-1706, ext. 6112 to learn more.
How and when do I get my backpack?
Kids who are registered will receive notification about when and where to pick up their backpacks. If you registered, then we have your email address and will be in touch soon!
What happens to the money my child makes on Lemonade Day?
The young entrepreneurs keep everything they earn - they've worked hard! In the spirit of a true business, they are encouraged to open a savings account, pay back investors and make a further investment in their community by donating a portion of their profits to a charity of their choice.
So, how does this really work?
Materials: Each registered child will receive a “how to” Entrepreneur Workbook with lessons on budgets, securing investors, choosing locations, marketing, and customer service. We also provide a Caring Adult Guide for the adult who will be working with the child. These materials are very user-friendly and will be included in the backpack you receive.
Location: Site selection is an important part of setting up any business! Kids choose their own sites and are responsible for obtaining permission to sell lemonade on private property.
Time: Kids, accompanied by responsible adults, can set up their stands and open for business at any time during Lemonade Day. Do what works best for you! Our suggestion is from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Contest info: We will hold three major contests as part of Lemonade Day: Best Tasting Lemonade, Best Lemonade Stand, and Best Business. Upon registration you will receive further details about entering the contests.
